TU Delft Data Challenge 2025

Over the past few weeks, we had the pleasure of joining the TU Delft Data Challenge, where students worked on a real-world case from EBS Public Transportation BV: how to design new bus routes for the town of Nunspeet in response to infrastructure change.

The challenge was kicked off with insightful presentations by Niels van Oort (TU Delft), Julia Bickel (EBS & TU Delft), Luc van Wijngaarden (Zight) and Blandine de Pindray (Zight) who introduced the background, the data-driven approach, and the mobility challenge ahead.

🛠️ In the second session, students collaborated in teams to work on their ideas. Julia and Jasper de Lanoy from EBS alongside with Tjibbe Bron and Blandine de Pindray from Zight were there to answer questions and share expertise.

🏁 The final session brought eight creative solutions to the stage, and we were seriously impressed by the level of thinking and innovation. Congrats to the winning team: Thomas Mennill, Hugo von der Thüsen, Jasper van den Broek & Luke Tros, who earned a very fitting reward: an EBS bus driving lesson! 🚌💨

A big thank-you to TU Delft for organizing the challenge, and to Niels, Julia, Marcel Fledderus, Jasper, Tjibbe, Blandine and of course all the students who brought their energy and insights to the table.

A very fun and interesting collaboration and a great example of how open data, real-world cases, and education can come together to shape the future of mobility.
