AI is everywhere at InnoTrans. And that is exciting.
One thing really stands out at InnoTrans 2026: AI is no longer a story about the future. It is everywhere.
AI for predictive maintenance, planning, passenger counting, crowding, safety, customer service, dispatching, and much more.
There are already many interesting AI-powered solutions available, often focused on one specific application or one particular part of the public transport chain.
And perhaps that is exactly where we are right now.
• We are discovering what AI can do.
• We are experimenting.
• We are developing applications.
• And we are seeing more and more tangible results.
But walking around InnoTrans, we are also wondering:
What will public transport look like in 5 or 10 years, when all these developments have matured?
Will today’s individual AI applications become increasingly connected?
Will we develop a more integrated way of managing and steering public transport, where AI not only supports existing processes, but fundamentally changes the public transport product itself?
And what will that mean for the way operators, authorities, and other stakeholders across the public transport ecosystem work together?
Perhaps, ten years from now, we will look back at this InnoTrans as a period in which we were mainly discovering what AI can do.
And then take the next step:
How can we use AI as a whole to make public transport better, more efficient, and more attractive?
We are curious to see how that vision will develop over the coming years.
At Zight, we are actively taking part in this development by adding AI to BI with very exciting results in terms of efficiency and quality.
We are very excited to see where this will take us!
